Coming Soon!

Looking for a peaceful way to explore a little corner of Swaledale and discover the rich history of Hazel Brow Farm and Low Row?

Please note that this is a self-guided experience and does not include meeting, feeding or handling the animals. Members of staff will not guide the trail.

Follow our ‘ Heritage Trail’ and step back in time to uncover the fascinating stories of Swaledale’s farming, textile and lead mining history. Once a bustling hamlet, Low Row was home to pubs, shops, chapels, a church and thriving textile workshops. Along the trail you’ll discover historic buildings, old packhorse routes, traditional hay meadows, riverside views and reminders of the area’s important knitting and wool trade heritage.

The trail takes you past ‘Paradise’, a former textile workshop dating back to 1653, along ancient tracks, beside Hatter’s Syke waterfall and over to Isles Bridge where you can enjoy stunning views of the River Swale. Keep an eye out for wildlife including lapwings, oystercatchers and barn owls, as well as our local Swaledale sheep grazing in the surrounding fields.

The walk is approximately 1.38 miles (2.22km) and takes around one hour at a relaxed pace. Please note there are some short steep and potentially muddy sections, so suitable footwear is recommended.

Take advantage of our picnic facilities, toilets and hand washing facilities during your visit… so don’t forget your lunch!

Slots available on selected days to book using the calendar above to reserve your arrival time.
