Nature Trail
£5.00
Description
Looking for a quiet spot to explore a little corner of Swaledale and an idyllic place to picnic?
Please note: This is a completely self-guided experience. A member of staff may not be present during your visit, and this trail does not include access to, feeding, handling, or interaction with the animals.
When you arrive, park in the car park then enter through the gate and look to your right behind the picnic benches. You will find our classroom, accessed via the three French doors. Inside, you’ll find:
- Printed copies of the trail map
- Activity knapsacks containing trail-based activities
You are welcome to borrow a knapsack for your visit and enjoy the activities on the way round. Please return it to the classroom afterwards, leaving everything as you found it and hanging the bag up ready for the next visitors.
Simply collect your map, enjoy the trail at your own pace, and explore this peaceful corner of Swaledale independently.
Follow our ‘Green Nature Trail’ down to the pebbled beaches of the river Swale. This route takes you through our traditional hay meadows which are bursting with colourful flowers and bees during growing period. Enter the wood which passes alongside the spectacular river Swale. At low tide you may be able to go onto the beaches to find fossils!
Take advantage of our nature garden and indoor/outdoor picnic facilities…so don’t forget your lunch!
Toilets, hand washing and shelter from the rain are available on site.
Slots available to book most days during the summer school holidays. Please use the booking calendar above to see available dates and book your arrival.
If you would like to get a more interactive opportunity and meet the animals here at Hazel Brow Farm, please book our ‘Farm Animal Experience’.
