Dry Stone Walling Experience Day

Step back in time and learn one of the Yorkshire Dales’ most iconic traditional countryside skills with local dry stone waller Martin Calvert.

Whether you’re a complete beginner or simply interested in learning more about this important rural craft, this hands-on experience will give you the opportunity to work alongside an experienced waller and gain practical skills in building and repairing traditional dry stone walls.

Throughout the day, Martin will guide you through the techniques used to construct strong, long-lasting walls, whilst explaining the history, heritage and importance of dry stone walls within the Yorkshire Dales landscape.

• Time: 10:30am – 4:00pm
• Cost: £100 per person

• Please Bring: A packed lunch, suitable outdoor clothing and sturdy footwear.

This experience is suitable for adults and older young people with an interest in countryside skills, heritage, farming or conservation.

No previous experience is required.
