Farm Animal Experience

£25.00

Description

Come and spend time on a traditional working hill farm in the heart of Swaledale. Our Farm Animal Experiences offer a hands-on, authentic insight into life on a real farm, where you’ll learn about livestock, animal care, and the day-to-day work that goes into farming in the Yorkshire Dales.

During your visit, you’ll meet some of our animals, including Fluffy the friendly Masham ewe, our Angora goats Polly, Pickle and Popcorn, and our alpacas Apollo, Aramis and friends. You’ll have the opportunity to help feed and interact with the goats, sheep, geese and alpacas, while learning directly from a farmer about how they are cared for and managed throughout the year.

As well as spending time with the animals, you’ll gain an understanding of the wider farm — from how we look after our land and meadows, to the wildlife that lives alongside our livestock.

After your animal experience, you’re welcome to explore our Meadow Nature Trail, take part in the garden Bug Hunt, and make use of our indoor and outdoor picnic areas.

During the Summer Holidays, you can also follow the ‘Yellow Marker’ route through the meadow to discover hidden animals among the trees and hedgerows. Use the information points along the way to learn more about local wildlife and see what you can spot.

Weather permitting, your visit may include walking through the field alongside the alpacas, finishing with a light-hearted sheep race across the pasture.

The farm animal experience is suitable for all ages and will be tailored according to your needs.

Sessions run throughout the summer months – please check availability on the calendar above to secure your place.
